Int. counter's ( interface Reset )??????

Hi,

I want to ask you that what are the reasons when a router reset its interfaces ..

becos i have DS3 interface on my cico 7206 VXR , in 24 hrs i have seen that its reset its ds3 interface 97 time. but its log is clear.

so what can i do for this as measuring step.

Hi There

Interface resets may occur under normal traffic conditions. However, if there are more no: of interface resets then try to change the cable, try to look at the remote interface even if ur finding the same there then try to talk with the telco provider.

according to your ans the problem is lies on Physiacl layer.. this is not the issue of layer 2 and layer 3.(from config point of view).

As Gopi mentioned its related to the physical layer only which means number of times the interface has flapped thts been counted as interface resets counter under the interface stats..

1)May be physical link has some problem either your end or other end

2)To rectify problem, ask telco service provider to do stability test for few hours.
