Hi!
Is it possible to configure 2 cisco routers connected through a wan link for Internal LAN DNS Resolution so that users behind these routers can connect to each other using their computer names and not ips?
Thanks.

Hi, not sure what is your requirement But, routers are not capable of doing dns service. You can use host file on pc or windows name
service if you want to name resolution. Off course you can run a separate dns server.

Hi,
It is possible to configure Cisco routers to use DNS lookups when you do ping or traceroute commands with
a host name rather than an IP address and more.
Please find the below link to complete the name server config in your router.

You are getting some inconsistent response so I thought to add more to the confusion :- ). Is it possible to use your routers as DNS servers, well yes it is as you will see in the following URLs:

I have personally not had to implement this or test it out either but for very small deployments this should work.
