hi, i got 2 routers connected (r0 and r1). the wan s0 on r0 is connected to s1 r1

the wan interface on one router is able to ping to the other end of the link even if ip routing is disabled

but it is not able to ping the self ip( i.e: R0 is able to ping s1 of R1 but R0 is not able to ping S0 of R0 )

but it is pinging self ip and remote ip after ip routing is enabled . can some one explain how it is happening plz

thx

i am using encapsulation hdlc

Can you share your config?

Hi,

have you disabled ip routing on both? if you enable routing on the other side then it will work as when it receives the ping not destined for him he sends an icmp redirect  and it works.

Regards.

Alain.
