IP Unnumbered help

Hi Guys

I am a beginner - but i hope you can help.

I have two routers,

Router 1 - has 2 serial cards and an ethernet connection. Serial 1 is using ip unnumbered GigabitEthernet0/0 to the ISP, I want to send the traffic from router 2 via serial 2 to this router, to the isp.

I have configured basic routing between the two routers on serial 2 but i dont think its working as they want. Could i do ip unnumbered on router 2 ??

Any ideas ?

Hi Nuno,

Can you please clarify a bit more what do you want to achieve? It is not very clear in your post: "i dont think its working as they want".

Do you want to have just Ip connectivity between the two routers? are you going to run a routing protocol between these two routers?

Anyway, in order to obtain reachability you need to add a static route in both routers, like this:

In R1

ip route 2.2.2.2 255.255.255.255 Serial1/0 2.2.2.2

Where 2.2.2.2 is the Ip address of R2

In  R2

ip route 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.255 Serial1/0 1.1.1.1

Where 1.1.1.1 is the Ip address of R1
