IPTV over GRE tunnel with PIM SSM

Hi team

Looking at placement of PIM SSM blue line here. Using a GRE Tunnel to enable Multicast between WAN routers due to the wider WAN cloud not supporting Multicast.

New to PIM SSM so is it in the correct place?

Assisting with drawings for IPTV and am looking for assistance with understanding PIM SSM a little better.

Would PIM SSM be from core switch to remote core switch, end to end or WAN router to WAN router?

Have I got my lines right?

I also understand that in this scenario I would not require a rendezvous point. Am I correct in this assumption?

Hello.

SSM does not required RP, so you do not need it.

PIM must be enabled on all L3 devices/interfaces on the path (don't need WAN cloud if using GRE).

You need to make sure, that your WAN routers will support SSM over GRE (platform/release/line-card/license). Make sure your "core switches" support SSM (platform/release/license).

SSM requires IGMPv3 (on last-hop-router) or any of migration techniques.
