Is it possible to replace rommon on 2620

kaval sandhu

I think that my rommon image has become corrupt as it will not take a new IOS image.

I have tried several images that are within the recommended size and work with another 2620 with exactly the same specification

also some commands that are available in help are not recognised when typed

Hi,

Please let me know which IOS version have you tried. It seems you have only 32Mb of DRAM.

As for the ROMMON  - there is no upgrade to that, it seems. Evene if you go search CCO, there are only PDLM and IOS packages.

Ivan

Hi Kaval,

Which IOS image are you trying to use? Could you share the console outputs from the boot sequence  - when you try to boot with new image?

Hello Ivan,

Thanks for your reply,

System Bootstrap, Version 12.1(3r)T2, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Copyright (c) 2000 by cisco Systems, Inc.

C2600 platform with 32768 Kbytes of main memory

program load complete, entry point: 0x80008000, size: 0xf65a7c

Error : memory requirements exceed available memory

Memory required     : 0x026D404C

*** System received a Software forced crash ***

signal= 0x17, code= 0x4, context= 0x8000c068

PC = 0x0, Vector = 0x0, SP = 0x0

****please note that the router reports that i dont have the memory requirements to support the image. but I have tried Images that do fall within the guide lines...

I have 3 other 2620's and they all take the image first time

mabe a problem with flash?

I take it that its not possible to replace ROMMON?

I should have stated that the other 2620's are the exact same spec.....

And same bootstrap version and same memory amount? Can you share "sh ver" from one of working 2620?

Kind Regards,
Ivan

Actually, it sorted its self out.

I have just loaded the same image from yesterday that I tried over and over and it took it fine this time...

the ROMMON seems to run quicker and didnt complain about commands I knew to be correct

strange...

thanks anyway Ivan

weird, indeed. anyways, glad it works now :-)
