ISR4431 E1 problem

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with ISR4431 E1 module configuration. I have recently replaced my AS5350 router with ISR4431. I use this router for my dialup connections with remote sites. I configured it according to Cisco configurations guides, but it doesn't function properly. The E1 lines are busy. I have also problems with configuring tty lines. I have configured tty line like below:

line tty 1

autoselect ppp

and I received this error:

%Autoselect w/o the interface command 'Async mode interactive' is useless.

Does anyone know the reason?

I wonder if anyone could help me.

Hello,

'autoselect ppp' and 'async mode interactive' work together, that is why you are getting the warninf. I pieced together the explanation below from previous posts.

Also, how did you configure the E1 ? Post the full config of your router...

If you issue the autoselect ppp line configuration command, you must first
issue the async mode interactive asynchronous interface configuration
command. The async mode interactive command enables the interface to select
a protocol type dynamically. If you do not enter the async mode interactive
command before you issue the autoselect ppp command, the following warning
message appears: %Autoselect w/o the interface command 'Async mode
interactive' is useless.

The command 'autoselect ppp' instructs the interface to only start the ppp
protocol if it detects incoming PPP packets. So the calling device must
initiate the PPP negotiation.

However, for this to work on the router, the async. interface must be set to
allow the incoming connection to chose the type of session it wants to
start. This is done using the async mode interactive cmd. This is useful
where your asynch. interface is used to connect different types of incoming
sessions such as PPP, SLIP, ARAP etc

The default is async mode dedicated where the async. interface is set to
start one type of network session such as PPP for all incoming calls.

Thanks very much for your complete reply. Generally, how can I config ISR 4431 E1 module for modem connections? should I config async and dialer interfaces and then line tty? I can't find any appropriate document for this subject.

I would appreciate if you can help me.
