ISR4431 NIM instertion - power off?

Energia

Hi, as far as I have seen, it is possible to instert a NIM-module while the device is running (the interfaces is available after the insertion), is this the correct way of doing it or is it best-practice to shutdown the device before inserting new modules?

I am not able to find any info about this in the hardware installation guide...

Hello,

online insertion and removal (OIR) is supported. Check the link below for the procedure:

I stand corrected, see above :)

No, you are not and you are correct the first time.

It may say that OIR is supported however this will depend entirely on the firmware currently being used and what modules are being inserted.  Take CSCve32524 as an example.

The best thing to do is read the Release Notes and raise a TAC Case.

ISRs are usually located in the most critical part of an infrastructure, personally, I wouldn't gamble on what the Data Sheet and Hardware Installation Guide says.  I cannot afford to have the router crash (or worst, go into a crash-boot-loop).

I would rather power down the router and insert the new module.
