Jumbo MTU between Nexus 9000 and 4500-X

On the Nexus 9k, the only MTU's are 1500 or 9216.  The 4500-X supports a range from 1500 to 9170.

OSPF especially is very sensitive to MTU mismatches.

Does this mean that you cannot use jumbo frames between a Nexus and 4500-X switch, especially if you plan to run OSPF over the interface?

Thanks

Re: Jumbo MTU between Nexus 9000 and 4500-X

Hi
There is no actual defined size for jumbo frames like an RFC that im aware of anwyay, its never been fully tied down to one particular size but most vendor will agree around 9000
just set each side to 9000 should be ok , you dont have to use the max allowed , and 9ks as below can do per interface too unlike 5ks where its global only

(config)# int e1/16
(config-if)# mtu ?
<576-9216> Enter MTU

(config-if)# mtu 9000
# sh int e1/16
Ethernet1/16 is down (XCVR not inserted)
admin state is down, Dedicated Interface
Hardware: 1000/10000/25000 Ethernet, address: 2c4f.5283.3efd (bia 2c4f.5283.3f0d)
MTU 9000 bytes, BW 25000000 Kbit, DLY 10 usec
