l2tp question

Is l2tp possible between a 2821 and 6500 router? Could you provide the commands that need to be entered on the two sides? Are there any gotchas that I should be aware of about l2tp?

Hi Kashish,

Please check the link to configure:

L2TP with IpSec

We don't need ipsec, just plain t2tp tunneling..

Just found that 6500 does not support l2tp, so now we are planning to run the tunnel between 2821 and 3845 routers. Could you please confirm if this setup is possible?

Thanks

Hi Kashish,

yES this scenrio will work.

It is alwayas better to use encrypted tunnel to make secure.

Usually we are using gre TUNNELS WITH IPSEC:

Reason we are not using encrypted tunnels is because the tunnel will be between two departments and will go through internal network only. hence just l2tp should be fine.

ok good,
