Lab testing of WIC-T1 (with built-in dsu/csu) on 2912 routers

Hello,

I have a lab setup and I want to test a point-to-point connection between two 2921 routers in a lab environment, without going through an ISP.

I have a HWIC-1DSU-T1= in each of the routers.

I have already configured ip addresses to the router interfaces, etc. etc.

Do I need to set any CLOCK RATE or BANDWIDTH commands or anything like that, since my traffic will not actually be going through an ISP during this lab test?

Do I need a special cable?

I am thinking that all I have to do is connect either a straight-through or crossover cable between the two HWIC-1DSU-T1= cards....

Please confirm.

Thank you.

Hi,

Here the config you need under each interface.  You also need to set one side to DTE and one site to DCE.

service-module t1 clock source internal
service-module t1 timeslots 1-24 speed 64
service-module t1 framing esf
service-module t1 linecode b8zs

You also need IP for each side and need to use T1 cross over cable .
Remember, this is T1 cross over and not a regular cross over.

This is great info!

Thank you Reza!

Hi Reza,

How do you set one side to DTE and the other side to DCE?

Thank you

Hi,

Right now, can you ping across from one router to the other. if yes, than you are good to go, if not add

"clock source inter" to one of them. and test.

Reza

Thank you Reza.

I have not connected them yet.  I will be doing this at a client in a test lab, so I want to minimize any mistakes before I do anything
