load balance 2 ds3 connections

If I want to load balance between the two 3750 routers. Should I run cef in cat4500 or run cef in two 3570 routes?

Hi,

THe fact the cat4500 and cat6500 are the ones with the two links between them, you should be running CEF on them. However, it's a good idea to have CEF running on the 3750s as well. CEF is a much better switching mechanism than fast-switching and provides better performance.

If I put ip default gateway in the 4500, I should point it to 3750_a or 3750_b, or doesn't matter, or I do not even need ip default gateway. Perhaps, I just need ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 point to two different 3750?

That is correct. Create 2 static default routes:

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0

You need to do this on both the 4500 and 6500.

Also, what is the impact if ip cef are only turn on in 4500 and 6500, but not in 3750s?

You are not right. You can have only one real default route for a device. No matter how many ip ro 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 you put in a device, only the last one is the default route. You can try that in your router, and then show ip ro.

I'm afraid what you are stating is not correct. You can certainly have more than one default route in a routing device. What device have you tried this on ?
