We have a Cisco ASR 1002 router.

While we have configured it the local interface is not pinging and nor is the remote IP address pingable.

What could be the issue ?

Hi,

Do you have ESP module installed?. By having RP alone, the control plane will work, but any data plane functionality including local ping will not work.

Ca you check "show platform" to see if you have ESP installed?.

Thanks,

Nagendra

Hi,

Per my understanding, Except fixed RU, all other ASR1k requires ESP. In your case, ESP is missing and so you cant ping you local address. Please see below for the datasheet,

You may need ESP to be included in this chassis inorder to have the dataplane functionality.
