Upgrading the memory on an 1841.
After inserting a 256MB/PC133/SDRAM/DIMM it would not post during the boot, hangs.
If i take out the chip it works fine.
The on-board memory is 128, so the 256 is the max it would take to a total of 384. According to the documentation this should work.
The memory chip is a Transcend chip, basically Samsung...same as the internal memory.
My question is, would the router reject a GOOD memory chip for any reason?

Hi
Is it an original memory that is supposed to be in that type of cisco router ?
if not then that is most likely your problem.
they (the router) can be very fuzzy about what hardware they use.
Good luck

The connectors could be dirty (we had a few like that). Wipe it down or use compressed air and check.
