Hi,

I have a router in location A with a /xx subnet witch is connecting through Metro ethernet with a router at location B (PtP via /30) and onother one in location C (PtP via /30). Between Routers at locations B and C run eigrp.

Please may someone advice me which is the most suitable technology if I want to apply primary backup (except of IP sla)?

Is there a reason you cannot also run EIGRP across your MetroE link?

Yes the reason is that there are two different comapnies. Company 1  location A and company 2 locations B & C.

Well it's technically possible to run the same routing protocol between different companies. ;)

However, to deal with the "politics", you could run EIGRP in a different AS that's shared between the two companies, and using controlled redistribution to/from the shared AS and each company's internal AS.

If you don't want to "share" an EIGRP AS, same technique could be used with another routing protocol, such as BGP.

Good morning, yes but is it a good practice each time a new company will be connected at company B to run a new eigrp because hundreds of companies will be connected. Also BGP is a good solution but the problem here is that some companies cannot support BGP.

Your original question only noted 3 sites, then you noted two different companies are involved, now you note there can be hundreds of companies.(?)

Suitable answers often depend on what you're trying to solve, i.e. one size doesn't always fit all.

Is this some kind of student question?

No it is not a student question. I am trying to find a solution in the frame of active-standby between a company with multiple connected companies. Now I apply ip sla and I am wondering if there is any other solution. Other solution should be HSRP but we are talking about different location, BGP is not support from all parties.

Ok, it's fine it's not a student question, actually it would be okay too if it was, but again, attributes of problem can impact possible solutions. Please try to define all requirements and environment. (You might also want to post such as a new posting.)
