Needing a Helping Hand with Networking small Project

Hello Cisco Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out because I’m in need of guidance and support for a project I’ve been working on. While I’ve managed to complete a significant portion of it, I’ve hit a point where things no longer make sense, and I feel quite stuck. I would truly appreciate any help or advice from this amazing community, as this project is important to me and I’m eager to learn.

Project:

The project involves designing a network setup for a four-floor building, with each floor having specific requirements:

  • First Floor:

    • Lobby and reception area with 1 receptionist.
    • Shared coworking space with 8 hot desks.
    • Public Wi-Fi zone for visitors.
  • Second Floor:

    • Startup offices (5 offices, each with 4 employees).
    • Shared printer/scanner located in the corridor.
  • Third Floor:

    • Event space for up to 50 participants, requiring high-speed internet for live streaming and workshops.
    • Media room for video editing and live streaming (3 editors).
  • Fourth Floor:

    • Administrative offices for HR, IT, and Operations (3 employees each).
    • Private meeting room for executives.(containing couple laptops and maybe a TV

General stuff for it

  • VLANs are required to separate networks by departments and usage (e.g., public, startups, admin).
  • Reliable Wi-Fi for both visitors and employees, with separate networks for each.
  • High-speed internet is needed on the third floor, especially in the media room for video editing and uploading.

    Security:

    • Secure ports to protect the network.
    • No need for advanced security setups like firewalls at this stage, as I currently lack the knowledge to handle them.

      my issues:

      • Devices, such as smartphones, tend to connect to a specific router on the fourth floor even if there’s a closer router on another floor.
      • I need help configuring the network to ensure devices automatically connect to the nearest router for optimal performance m ensuring devices connect to the nearest router, rather than defaulting to a specific router on the fourth floor. also one of my biggest problem is making two different wifi one for employees and one for visitors idk if i should make two different wifi or separate one using SSD and such
        • I’m unsure about how many VLANs are actually needed to meet the project’s requirements.
        • I need guidance on configuring high-speed internet for the event space and media room on the third floor.
  • VLAN Configuration:

    • I’ve attempted to separate networks using VLANs, but I suspect my setup is incorrect and messy. I need advice on structuring this properly as i feel like my version is very inefficient.
      • Optimizing the setup for the event space and media room which is floor 3 to handle high-speed tasks like live streaming and video editing. so does this mean i should use a fiber optic? or a regular one works fine

I’ve uploaded my current project and progress so far to this Google Drive folder: Project Files

I understand that everyone here is busy, and I don’t want to burden anyone with advanced configurations. I simply hope for some basic configurations or direction to help me move forward. Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to read this and for any assistance you can offer. Your guidance means a lot to me, and I’m looking forward to learning from your expertise.
