A new fiber install from Cogent is not going smoothly. The line has been checked multiple times, the first uncovering and fixing a problem. At this point, I am suspecting the HWIC hardware, and need help on how to prove/diganose.
In either of two routers (an 1921 newly purchased, and an 1841 that's several years old), I can configure the interface, and it believes it can transmit packets, however only input errors show up for inbound.
I have moved the SFP to a DELL switch and can get the interface to come up and successfully ping the other end now, so the SFP and fiber are proven (of course, that switch can't do BGP/OSPF so it's not a solution).
There is virtually no configuration on that interface... simply an IP, and disable negotiation.
Is there any further diagnostic/testing that can be done to prove the hardware is at fault?
