NEWB: Internal requests for website invoking SDM on router

OK, I got m first bit of Cisco kit yesterday (857 ADSL Router) and I've got stuck on some routing stuff:

The 857 has port 80 open for our webserver and this can be accessed externally without a problem. However, accessing it internally, via the www.ourdomain.com causes the router to believe the request is for the SDM service and prompts for authentication. Any way around this short of disabling the HTTP service on the router?

you server is on the inside and has a private ip address. Is this correct?

if your installation is small (few PCs) you can add an entry to solve www.yourdomain.com to the private ip address in hosts/ lmhosts file on each PC.

Yes, the server is on an private, internal IP address.

I was using a hosts file to resolve the domain to the private IP with my last router, but felt that now I have a 'proper' router I would be able to leave behind this workaround. Maybe not!
