Newbie needs basic help

I have two internal private networks that I'm trying to connect using a 1721 router. I am able to telnet from network 1 to the router, and ping from router the gw on network 2, but I can't ping anything back on network 1. Also, I can't ping network 2 from network 1. Can someone give me the correct route or other commands I need to get started. I'm not worried about security, this is just for testing. Once I make the connections, I can start playing around with more advanced commands. Network 1 is 10.10.x.x/16 and Network 2 is 10.20.20.x/24. Thanks.

The vendor said I can change the GW. They use a parameter file instead. I changed the gw on one of the wireless AP to 10.20.20.77 but I still can't ping it. Come to think of it, I cant' ping the e0 (10.20.20.77) of the Cisco 1721. Shouldn't I be able to do that?

Nobody should ever laugh at someone for being new to Cisco Routers. We all had to start somewhere and had to get help from someone, after all that is the reason for this forum.

You have some great people already posting so in no time you will be set-up.

One suggestion that I learned a long time ago. Basic configs!!!

Start there and then add complexity. Like ACL's. Get a basic set-up working first then add an ACL, routing protocols, etc...

You will break things in the process, but fixing what you broke will reinforce how to do it in the future.

Keep it up!

Rick

Wholeheartedly agree with this.
