Greetings,
I'm an Application layer pen tester not familiar with Networking appliances. If a Server shows indications of port 179 being open and cleartext port 21 FTP open, I'm thinking the server I'm looking at is hosting some type of BGP configuration. Is this generic symptom inherently worrisome or a common configuration. Perhaps by coincidence, I had never encountered an open port 179 and port 21 combination before, so I never bother to learn a lot about BGP networking. Any tips to drink from the firehouse of the security aspects/concerns wrt to my observed port scanning result.
Thanks.

BGP on 179 port sure, and FTP clear 21 port.
Maybe a Linux device running the BGP process and Open FTP Server ?
I am sure you get information on when to scan the device? what device is this ?
