OSPF DR/BDR election

I have one question for OSPF DR/BDR election

Consider 3 routers all with the same default priority 1 but different RIDs

RTA = 1.1.1.1  RTB =2.2.2.2  RTC =3.3.3.3

All routers come up at the same time.

RTC - DR and RTB -BDR.

Now,another router D with router ID =4.4.4.4 comes up in the network,it won't participate in election unless the already elected DR/BDR goes down

Consider 2 scenarios:

Scenario 1:

DR (RTC) goes down.What will be DR/BDR?

Scenario 2:

BDR (RTB) goes down.What will be DR/BDR?

Hi akaurbedi,

In Scenario 1, RTB will become the DR as it was the BDR, and RTD will become the BDR.

IN Scenario 2, RTD will become BDR.
