OSPF E1 & E2 route

Hi Guys,

According to ospf E1 route is prefer over E2 but what if i am getting same route update

1- Both E1 & E2 have same metric than there will be load balancing.

2- E1 metric is lower than E2 than E2 will be selected or E1.

I am not sure about these two point please help

If I understand your questions they have to do with comparing metrics if you have received both an E1 and an E2 advertisement of some route(s). If it is E1 and E2 then it does not matter what the metrics are. It does not matter whether the metric for the E1 route is better or worse than the E2 metric. OSPF compares the route type E1 or E2 and makes a choise. OSPF only compares metric when both advertisements are of the same route type.

You mean to say

1- only E1 will be prefered whatever the metric is.

2- if E1 has higher metric than also E1 will be prefer.
