OSPF Multi-Area

As per all docs, multi-area OSPF reduces Link state database on a Internal Router.

But if I don't configure summarization, Stub, Totally stub kind of features, then on a vanilla multi-area OSPF topology below will happen

"Internal router will have less Type 1 LSA but will now have the addition of multiple Type 3 LSA of other areas. So overall we have not reduced the database size."

Am I right in above statement?... This means without any stub or summarization config on internal Router, I am not reducing the DB size even after having multi-area OSPF

Rohit,

That would be a correct statement. The advantage though would be that a link flapping in one area would trigger a full SPF run only in that specific area.
