Hi all,

If we issue 'sh ip route' x.x.x.x on ospf enabled router ..how will you interpret route descriptor block.

eg:

Routing entry for A.A.A.A/28

Known via "ospf 100", distance 110, metric 121, type intra area

Last update from X.X.X.X on Vlan20, 19:51:02 ago

Routing Descriptor Blocks:

x.x.x.x, from y.y.y.y, 19:51:02 ago, via Vlan115

Route metric is 121, traffic share count is 1

I know x is the next hop ip address..wht is 'Y' IP address on the output?

Regards, Rajesh

y.y.y.y would be the originating device.

For example an edge router
