Hi there,

I need to know please what are the physical cable types that should be connected to an STM-1 interface & G,703 interface? Is it normal UTP cable or fiber cable or another cable type?

Thanks a lot.

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hello,

G.703 is an E1. The E1 uses either an RJ-48 or BNC coaxial connectors and cables. I remember these from a very long time ago (20 or more, believe it or not). Back then, an E1 or T1 was high end for businesses, and actually quite expensive. We are talking about 1,5 and 2MB connections...but then again, these were the days of 56K dial up connections and that weird sound that came from a modem...

Have a look at the link below:

Hi,

For the STM-1 & G.703 interface the 75 Ohm coaxial cables (qty 2 - ie. one for each direction) with BNC connectors are used.

Best regards,

Antonin

Good point ! STM-1 can be coaxial as well...
