By default is the serial interface on a router set to line or does it always have to be specified? I have a customer having issues with Pt-2-Pt but the T1 test clean (was tested intrustively) also the only thing I see are slips. This to me indicated Timming - he insists he set the timing on this however the show Tech that was sent I didn't see any timing on 1 router where I should have seen clock source line. I just didn't know if the router by default is line.
Thanks

The Clock source is by default line and can be viewed with the sh controllers T1/E1 command

I didn't see anything inthe Sh Controllers

From the main router:
Current clock source is line
and from the 2nd router:
Current clock source is internal
Is there a reason why the 2nd router has set the clocking as internal? Is the provider doing clocking on the circuit or did the provider specify that one of the routers should provide clocking?

I am the ISP- This is Pt-2-pt between 2 buildings for a customer.
3653 Slip Secs, 0 Fr Loss Secs, 0 Line Err Secs, 0 Degraded Mins
on the tech co that is out at the site is seeing this on the router that is set to internal. But none at the main site (line) The speeds are deathly slow. I have put a Tbird on the T for intrusive testing and it was clean for 5 hours last night.
Any thoughts?
I can send more info if you need

If you are the ISP then perhaps you can tell us whether you are providing clocking for the circuit or are you depending on one of the routers to provide clocking?
Clearly the main router is set for clock from line and the 2nd router is set for internal. Is that what you wanted it to be?

Sorry about that no we are not providing clocking we are just the pipe.

In that case I would say that the routers are properly configured with one set for clock source line and the other configured for clock source internal.
I am not sure if it would improve things to reverse roles - have the main router go to clock source internal and have the 2nd router go to clock source line. But it might be worth a try.

One question I would ask is how the pipe is terminated to each routers, are they directly connected? Or is there anything else in the mix, for example line convertors, G703 convertors etc...? What is the underlying technology of the pipe? Fibre? Copper? etc...
A fuller picture might lead to a clue as to what in this particular case is causing the timing slip.
How are the controllers configured on each router?
