After much trial-and-error I finally was able to access the console of this WS-C5000 that I purchased online (The link is:
The only problem is that I get like 2 seconds in the console before it starts looping through what I believe to be the startup again. I think it says something about a "hardware problem". Anyways here are three links to some of the output:
http://www.einlanzers.com/Cisco.txt
http://www.einlanzers.com/Cisco2.txt
http://www.einlanzers.com/Cisco3.txt
I tried removing both of the ethernet cards in the unit. It gives me a LITTLE bit more time before looping and giving me another hardware error. In Cisco3.txt is a more detailed output of the show test 1 command. Do you think the management/supervisor card is bad? It's not like I could yank it out and still test through Hypterminal. If it is bad, do you think I could get a replacement and how much would that be?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Chaz
You are hitting bug CSCdr27879: "Intermittent Boot Issue with Single Supervisor II and Certain Line Cards"
Problem symptoms are:
"Minor hardware problem in Module # 1" message and
Loopback Status [Reported by Module 1] :
Ports 1 2 3
--------------
F F .
under show test 1
Workarounds:
In addition to a software upgrade, there are three possible solutions to this issue:
1. Do not configure any combination of these three specific line cards with any Supervisor II supervisors, when the switch has only a single supervisor and running software below 5.5(3) or 4.5(9).
2. If your switch currently employs this unsupported configuration and encounters this problem, remove the offending linecards and reboot the system. Re-insert the linecards once the supervisor is online.
3. Configure the switch with a standby Supervisor II. This anomaly does not occur when a standby supervisor is present in the switch configuration.
If you cannot upgrade SW, I would try workaround #2
Here you are the complete info:

Hope this helps
