problem with gns3

Hi guys,

I am writing because I have a big problem with gns3.

1)    I downloaded and decompressed the ios image file named “c1700-advipservicesk9-mz.124-15.T11” with winrar. I did not use cisco image upacker ( is this wrong?)

2)    I chose the project directory and the image directory for gns3. To make it more simple I used the same folder for gns3 projects and images.

3)    I configured dynamips. I Enabled the options “ghost ios feature’’,  ’’mmap support’’ and I checked that dynamips was working perfectly.

4)    Then from gns3 I chose the decompressed image named “C1700-AD ‘’

FIRST TROUBLE

I saw a message stating that  “The path you have selected should contain only ascii (English) characters.

Dynamips does not support Unicode on Windows”

In spite of this message the image ios was loaded.

5)    I left the base config option as “baseconfig.txt” (should I change it?)

6)    I chose the platform and the model (I am sure about the platform but I am not sure about the exact model…On step 7 I checked all the models but no one was working. Of course the image file is not false I have checked it)

7)    I saved the image  and then dragged the router image of the platform in order to design my network.Everything worked perfect till then.

SECOND TROUBLE

I saw a message stating209-UNABLE TO START VM INSTANCE-R1’’

Of course my router cannot boot up and I don’t know what I do wrong.Of course I tried it many times with lots of images but every time happened the same thing.

I would appreciate if someone of you helped guys! Thank you in advance! I am waiting for suggestions because I need gns3 in order to practice for ccnp routing!

In hypervisor I don't see anything in right panel, click on save  and what about the IOS image Tab

And in Dynamips: put the absolute  path to the executable

Hi,

Don't you think you should read a little bit the GNS3 documentation you would know where to configure these.

By the way for first error with ascii chars it is because your path contains greek chars which are unicode and not ascii.

see there: http://www.gns3.net/phpBB/topic232.html?sid=ec481a1d72e2d8c6c08f92f717c7ac54
