Procedure to replacement SUP2T on 6500 VSS

Hi

I'm confused about what is the best procedure to replace a failed SUP2T-10G on VSS because I founded 2 ways:

- Replace the failed SUP

-Copy the Same IOS on the new SUP

-Configure the VSS:

Spoiler

switch virtual domain 100
switch 1 priority 200

!

interfacer po1
swith virtual link 1
!
!
interface range TenGigabitEthernet1/X/Y - 1/X/Y
no switchport
no cdp enable
channel-group 1 mode on
no shutdown

- Save config and reload to form the VSS

I found this link https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-6500-virtual-switching-system-1440/109334-replace-vss-sup-proc-v1.html

The big differents are that I not need to configure the VSS and just copy the Same IOS and Config on startup-config and configure the switch_num X.

Does any know what is the best way?.

Thanks and regards.

Hi

They are many ways, including changing switch id and vss mode on the registry while in rommon.

However, the best way to avoid any issues and make it straight forward, the 2nd option is good.
Following all these steps, ensure you won't have any issues building back up your vss.

Thanks
Francesco
