QOS for rdp traffic

Here is what I would like to do.....

We have an MPLS that connects our main office with our 7 branch offices.  We have 3Mb coming into the main office and 1.5 into all of the branch offices.  I would like to give rdp traffic the highest priority.  We have a Cisco 1841 at all branches and a Cisco 2811 at the main office. Do I have to configure QOS on all routers or just the one at the main location?  Any suggestions on the best way to configure this?

Thanks,

Mike

You probably should have an egress policy on all your sites, something like:

policy-map sample

class rdp

priority percent #

class class-default

fair-queue

You'll also want to find out from you MPLS vendor what QoS support they provide (sometimes an extra cost option), and then take advantage of it.

I would think that you could just give port 3389 traffic the same dscp marking as voice traffic. I would set it up I GNS3 and test it first.

Yes, setup qos at all sites

Thanks for all the replies.  Do I put this egress policy on the serial interface of all the routers?  Is it exactly the same on all the routers?

Thanks again.

Yes, policy would be applied to outbound egress interface, i.e. probably your serial interfaces.

A policy like the the "sample" might be applied to all routers, unless you need different percentage or want to deal with some special traffic that's unique per site.

Great, thanks.
