My question pertains to using either BGP or HSRP at both the internet edge module and or WAN edge module for failover. I CANNOT realistically think of a situation where I would failover between two devices using HSRP at both the internet edge and WAN edge, since in my opinion HSRP is a LAN failover technology by definition and by using BGP we could failover between links on the same router and between devices as well using one of the many attributes provided to us by BGP. At the moment we are using a single router at both internet edge and WAN edge but we intend to redesign the network edge to include failover.
Thanks,
Vick.

Normally, HSRP is a virtual gateway protocol. If you're dynamic routing, the routing protocol handles failure without using a virtual gateway.
