Router 3640 reloading endlessly

Hi All,

I have been confronted with an issue recently with two of my 3640 series router reloading endlessly.

Initially i thought it could be a matter of MEM not well seated, but unfortunately it wasn't the problem.

To help you in helping me, i have attached the gibberish produced when these routers are booted up.

Be informed as well that these devices are loaded with max MEM.

Many thanks in advence for your help as usual

Regards

Eagleman

Hi Eagleman.

I think, here is the problem.  You are only using 5Mb out of 128Mb.  So it seems as you have installed unsupported memory.

One thing you can do before replacing the memory is to load an older version of IOS like 12.3 or 12.2 to make sure the issue is not software related.

If that does not help, then you may want to replace the memory.  All the parity errors in your attachment indicate memory issues.

If any of the above Memory Requirements are
"UNKNOWN", you may be using an unsupported
configuration or there is a software problem and
system operation may be compromised.
Rounded IOMEM up to: 5Mb.
Using 3 percent iomem. [5Mb/128Mb]
