I am looking to get a 40 Mbs ethernet handoff from my ISP.
Can someone recommend a Router that will handle this ?

My recommendation for this would be 2851 or 3825/3845 ISR's. Please see the link below to check the router performance in Mbps for the routers.

HTH,Please rate if it does.

Hello,
I know this is not directly related but I have a question regarding that document. According to the list, the performance of a 2621XM is about 15Mbps. And yet I have a border internet access router at a colo center which routes in excess of 20Mbps. And CPU only goes as high as 35% or so (I am assuming CPU also has an impact). How do you explain that ? The router only routes traffic, no encryption.

What i have seen is the router like 2621 chokes when 15 mbps traffic is pumped through the wan.
But if the router is connected on a ethernet, it works well even if you pump 25 MB of traffic and as you said never increases the CPU as well
Just my 2 cents
