routing issue between 2 lans using multiple routers and multiple T1 wans

I have a total of 4 1760 routers in this system, 2 at each end. I have 2 T1 wans between the 2 lans. The reason for the multiple routers is for total redundancy incase a T1 goes down or a router at either end goes down. I don't want to use multilink ppp because if I lose a router I lose my connection. I am using vrrp on all the routers fa0/0 interfaces and using eigrp routing. Lets call them router 1a, 1b and 2a, 2b. 1a is connected to 2a via wan1, 1b is connected to 2b via wan2. If I am on router 1a I cannot ping fa0/0 on router 2b and visa versa. Is this correct of am I missing something? Help....

Thanks.

Jim

Check your routing.
