The difference, as stad\ted in the data sheets, is that the first can only and exclusively be used for ATM (Asynchnous Transfer Mode) services, while the second, can be used only and exclusively on POS (Packet Over Sonet) circuits.
However, two ATM interfaces will alos work in "back to back" mode over a local fiber, or SONET/DSH circuit.
