Hello Experts,

I have been given an task to add the snmp-server host in the switches and firewalls. Before adding the syntax what are all the troubleshooting steps should I follow?

eg: snmp-server host X.X.X.X version 2c XXXXXXXX(Alphanumeric number)

What is alphanumeric number used after the version 2C?

Hi there

The alphanumeric string is the community string. Think of it as a shared secret between the switch and the SNMP server, both should match....and it should never be left to just public !!
