strange ping responses

Hi

Im using GNS3 to learn about VPNs. I have set up a 3 way mesh MPLS VPN using BGP/VRFs to redistribute rip (V2 no auto-sumary) between all three sites.

rip is successfully distributing between the sites.

If i ping any of the loopback interfaces on the CE routers i get a response from in ip address one address lower than that I pinged.

e.g:

HO#ping 192.168.1.223

Type escape sequence to abort.

Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 192.168.1.223, timeout is 2 seconds:

Reply to request 0 from 192.168.1.222, 36 ms

Reply to request 1 from 192.168.1.222, 20 ms

Reply to request 2 from 192.168.1.222, 60 ms

Reply to request 3 from 192.168.1.222, 36 ms

Reply to request 4 from 192.168.1.222, 40 ms

If i try and bing any physical interfaces on the CE router I get no response.

Can anyone tell me what is happening?

Can you post your topology? Is HO the PE router or one of the CEs?

Thanks for the reply. HO is a CE router but i found the issue was an IP conflict.
