sup 720 storm control

I have a cisco 6509 that is connected to a switch ring via two trunks. This ring uses older cisco 3500/2900 switches which do not support broadcast storm control.

I wanted to enable storm-control on the 6500 instead  however it looks like the 6500 can only drop packets when storm-control is enable there is no storm-control action command and I wanted to not only drop these excess broadcast packets but turn down the interface as well.

I know storm-control logs to syslog via %PM_PLATFORM-5-PORTDROP so could i use IP SLA or EEM if it see

%PM_PLATFORM-5-PORTDROP X number of times in the syslog. An example of EEM would be great.

the storm-control action command is been replaced by errdisabled detect. which by default disables the port based on storm-control. errdisable recovery will turn up the port after X amount of time.
