Is this only available on certain models? It seems to not be be available in my Cisco IOS.

Yes, it only exists on some Cisco switches, which determines how TCAM resources will be allocated.

I somewhere recall that you need to have at least a LAN Base image. LAN Lite does not support SDM templates.

Post the output of 'sh ver' so we can see the exact model you have...
