The difference between different 8200 router images

Hi, we plan to purchase catalyst 8200 routers, but from CCW, there are multiple image options, like universal

xxxk9.176, xxxk9.1176

Can someone please advise what the differences between these images? How to select ? thanks in advance!

Hello Herman!

The option only depends on which image comes preloaded. You will be able to change the image later on. It is usually best to go with the golden image to save you the hassle. I would go with 

SC8KBEUK9-176 

currently which is the golden one.

Hi Herman,

The difference is simply the image version of code, for example <value>-1712 = 17.12 and <value>-173 = 17.3 and as detailed here : Cisco Catalyst 8300/8200 Series Edge Platforms Ordering Guide - Cisco

If you wish to view the variations between the code versions, then the best place to look is on the 'Downloads' and review the associated release notes. I would recommend paying particular attention to the 'new features', and 'resolved bugs'.
