Hello all.

How do I find the default throughput supported by the Router 3925E?

I need a router that supports 400Mbps line 3900.

The 3925E supports? If so, you need to upgrade or add a EHWIC? If so, what can I addto support that throughput?

Thanks for the replies.

That'll have to be the 3945E.

Check out the White Paper attached.

In Table 1, it states that the 3925E supports more than 400Mbps. See that?

In Table 1, it states that the 3925E supports more than 400Mbps.

Forgot to mention that the value is expressed in HALF duplex and NO ENCRYPTION.

If you want to run your WAN link with ENCRYPTION and FULL duplex then factor the value by FOUR.

You won't.  You're not expected to.  Blame the marketing department from every manufacterer.  IT's a very common practice.

Caveat emptor.

Minimum size Ethernet requires 1.488 Mpps per gig, so 400 Mbps duplex would be about 1.2 Mpps.  The 3925E is rated at 1.845 Mpps for minimum size Ethernet, so for just raw forwarding, it should meet your need.

Larger packet size will allow even higher throughput; additional services will reduce throughput.  Cisco recommends the 3925E for up to 250 Mbps, but Cisco's recommendations tend to be very conservative.
