trunking between two switches on different networks

Capture.PNG

I have a trunk setup between the two 172.16.64.2 and 172.16.128.2 switches, but I'm not able to ping each other.  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Please see the attached Network.pkt packet tracer file

Re: trunking between two switches on different networks

Am I trying to do something that can't be done?

Hello,

I have made some changes to your network...

Re: trunking between two switches on different networks

I figured it out actually.  I took out ip routing and added the default gateways.  Where did you post the new configuration so I can take a look at that also?

I'm getting this from the router now.  What does this mean?  I noticed that the laptops on 172.16.128.2 are getting the correct default router, but they're getting the .64 DHCP sometimes unless I do a release/renew on them.

%DHCPD-4-PING_CONFLICT: DHCP address conflict: server pinged 172.16.128.1.

%DHCPD-4-PING_CONFLICT: DHCP address conflict: server pinged 172.16.64.1.

%DHCPD-4-PING_CONFLICT: DHCP address conflict: server pinged 172.16.64.2.

%DHCPD-4-PING_CONFLICT: DHCP address conflict: server pinged 172.16.128.2.

Re: trunking between two switches on different networks

Have a look at the revised router configuration. You need to exclude the conflicting IP addresses...

Re: trunking between two switches on different networks

Thank you.  I'll take a look.  I added the excluded addresses, and I'm getting the correct ones now.  No more messages in router either.
