Hello,

I get the following messages upgrade rom-monitor filename bootflash:asr1000-rommon.169_5r_SPA.pkg all :

ROMMON upgrade complete.
To make the new ROMMON permanent, you must restart the RP.

Upgrade rom-monitor on Embedded-Service-Processor 0

Target copying rom-monitor image file
rsync: link_stat "rommon/mcp/FP/20G/latest.bin" (in rommon_upgrade_pub) failed: No such file or directory (2)
rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at /scratch/mcpre/release/BLD-V03_16_10_S_FC3/contrib/rsync/main.c(1392) [receiver=2.6.9]

Upgrade rom-monitor on SPA-Inter-Processor 0

Target copying rom-monitor image file
rsync: link_stat "rommon/mcp/CC/10G/latest.bin" (in rommon_upgrade_pub) failed: No such file or directory (2)
rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at /scratch/mcpre/release/BLD-V03_16_10_S_FC3/contrib/rsync/main.c(1392) [receiver=2.6.9]
Slot CPLD Version Firmware Version
--------- ------------------- ---------------------------------------
0 09111601 15.3(3r)S
R0 10021901 16.9(5r)
F0 08041102 15.5(3r)S1

Is this problematic if the version of a firmware is not the same on an ASR1004-RP2 concerning Slot 0; R0 and F0 ??

I have this IOS version : asr1000rp2-adventerprisek9.03.16.10.S.155-3.S10-ext.bin

Thank !

Why not use 16.12(8r) instead?

ROMMON version 16.12(8r) for ASR 1k RP2 can be found HERE.

@Leo Laohoo: Yes I had found in the meantime I did not look at the right page (RP2)

Ok, one more trick left ...
The "lowest" ROMMON version is 16.3(2r). Is it possible to downgrade the IOS (not the ROMMON) to, say, 16.3.10 and then downgrade the ROMMON to 16.3(2r).
Check to make sure all the slots "upgrade" to this version. Once they do, then go straight to 16.12(8r).

@Leo Laohoo: I'm not sure I understand everything !

I have an ASR-1004-RP2 with 16GB DRAM and 1 x ASR1000-ESP20 and 1 x ASR1000-SIP-10.

Is it possible to downgrade the IOS (not the ROMMON) to, say, 16.3.10

Currently I have the following IOS installed asr1000rp2-adventerprisek9.03.16.10.S.155-3.S10-ext.bin (03-Oct-2019 )

So I have to install IOS asr1000rpx86-universalk9.16.03.10.SPA.bin (28-Feb-2020) ??

Wait ... If the chassis is running 3.16.10, then downgrade the ROMMON to 16.3(2r).
See if all the slots are able to load 16.3(2r).

Hi @Leo Laohoo

I have successfully downgraded the ROMMON to asr1000-rommon.163-2r.pkg

Slot CPLD Version Firmware Version
--------- ------------------- ---------------------------------------
0 09111601 16.3(2r)
R0 10021901 16.3(2r)
F0 08041102 16.3(2r)

Now what should I do ?

Upgrade IOS to asr1000rpx86-universalk9.16.03.10.SPA.bin and try to flash asr1000-rommon.1612-8r.pkg ?

Upgrade the ROMMON only and reboot the router.

@Leo Laohoo

The version asr1000-rommon.1612-8r.pkg does not work !

I tried with the version asr1000-rommon.169_4r_SPA.pkg, asr1000-rommon.169_5r_SPA.pkg and does not work again.

Slot CPLD Version Firmware Version
--------- ------------------- ---------------------------------------
0 09111601 16.3(2r)
R0 10021901 16.9(4r)
F0 08041102 16.3(2r)

Only asr1000-rommon.163-2r.pkg work...

Do I have to upgrade to IOS asr1000rpx86-universalk9.16.03.10.SPA.bin to use ROMMON > 169_4R ??

If none of the ROMMON files work then raise a TAC Case.
I have never seen a behaviour like this before.
