upgrade the 6509/6513 dual SUP720/MSFC3 Cisco IOS

Hello,

My task is to upgrade the IOS to 12.2(18)SXF4 size 75MB.

1. Do we have to upgrade both the SUP720 and the MSFC flash SEPERATELY with new IOS?

Please advise.

No,

You assumning your running native IOS, you should be able to load the image on SUP-A and SUP-B change the bootparameter to reflect the new image name.

Then force a failover, Insure that SUP-A boots normaly then force a second failover to upgrade SUP-B.

This is assuming your running redundancy mode.
