Hi,
International Telecommunication Union (ITU) uses alphabet from 'A' to 'Z' to group different standardization recommendations.
'G' series are for Transmission systems and media, digital systems and networks.
'V' series are for Data communication over the telephone network.
Here is the link for ITU Recommendations from A to Z http://www.itu.int/publications/sector.aspx?lang=en§or=2

No reason for the low rating to a perfectly correct answer by Dandy, that I've rated again.

Thanks Paolo. Support like that we need to stay around :)
I wonder what others are expecting for an answer. I think they should accept that the truth hurts, sometimes :)
