Read the respective data sheet, you will learn a lot.

i already read and also work over othe tahn 6500 switch. i maen every

technical term have some means. ijust want to confirm that are these number based on osi model or not

Hello,

Forget about OSI model in this case. These are product platforms produced by elaborate marketing strategy that decides which features go into which product series. There is almost no clear delineation between these individual product lines and it would be wrong to assume that these marketing designations adhere to the OSI model. Just as Paolo suggested, to really know what the individual platform can do, you need to study the data sheet very carefully. There is no shortcut. It is true that 2950/2960 series is Layer2 only and starting with 3550, the platforms become multilayer switches but that is the only brief answer possible - no more details.

Best regards,

Peter
