Will Cisco 7204 VXR support MEM-NPE-G2-2GB?

We are currently using a Cisco 7204 using MEM-NPE-G2-1GB, however are trying to upgrade to MEM-NPE-G2-2GB, however when the 2G simm is installed the router will not boot even to ROMMON?? Can someone confirm there are no hardware limitations of the 7204 VXR?

Yes the 7204VXR NPE-G2 supports either a 1 x 1GB or 1 x 2GB in location S1 on the engine board
Look at table 4 (Very bottom)

Went through several memory chips from our supplier last year trying to upgrade old NPE-G1s.

I suspect you either have a faulty memory chip or the wrong part from your supplier.
