Hi,
I am trying to upload a new IOS to a C3640 router. The upload process requests to erase the contents of the flash before proceeding.
However, erase fails raising a "System Flash Write Protected" error.
At first I thought the memory was faulty , but I have tried 4 different memory modules and all raise the same error.
How can I "unprotect" the flash?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks.
George

Hello George,
what type of memory (brand) are you using ? Not very likely, but possibly all modules are faulty...can you post the output of 'show version' ?
Try to laod the IOS from 'rommon' or 'boot>#', and check if that makes a difference...

GP

Hello Georg
Thanks for your answer.I have used Amd,Intel and Sharp modules.
BUT after testing the "faulty" memory modules to another c3640 router, there was no problem at all!!
It seems there is something wrong with the memory banks of the first router.
I think I'll have to request an RMA....
Regards
George
