SD-WAN dual stack (IPv4 IPv6)

Hello,

Is there any case study or documentation about migration (data plane) from IPv4 to IPv6 (via dual stack) in SD-WAN environment ?

I want to understand the behavior, once I will enable IPv6 on cEdges.

Many thanks,

Jan

Hi,

I haven't seen IPv6 deployment/ design guide for SD-WAN, but there is document about IPv6 functionality on Edge routers in SD-WAN:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/sdwan/configuration/system-interface/ios-xe-17/systems-interfaces-book-xe-sdwan/ipv6-functionality.html

Since, IPv4 and IPv6 is different stack protocols, they basically work independent i.e dual-stack is supported in SD-WAN which is good for migration and to think how to do migration. Also, you may need NAT64 options depending on your requirements.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/sdwan/configuration/nat/nat-book-xe-sdwan/configure-nat64.html

HTH,
Please rate and mark as an accepted solution if you have found any of the information provided useful.

It's a pity , there is no IPv6 deployment/ design guide for SD-WAN. There are a lot hidden details in migration from IPv4 to IPv6.

There is nobody, who made migration (data plane) from IPv4 to IPv6 (via dual stack) in SD-WAN ?
