Introduction

This feature is used to monitor system conditions in ACS. To activate alarms you need to configure thresholds and data to manage alarm which in return retrieves data from ACS.

These notifications are generally displayed in the web interface and you can get a notification of events through e-mail and Syslog messages. ACS can filter duplicate alarms by default.

In ACS you have two types of basic alarms:

1.) System Alarms

2.) Threshold Alarms

More information on alarms can be seen from below mentioned link:

Problem

ACS 5.3 gives an alarm notification "Incremental Backup Not Configured" eventhough the user has configured Incremental Backups and the backup runs successfully. index.png

How this issue can be resolved?

Resolution

The reason why the alarm is seen inspite of Incremental backup being configured is that  when an incremental backup is initiated the ACS needs to scan the  repolock file to see if there is another process that has locked that  file. The ACS also writes to the catalog.xml file too in order to find a list  or what backups it needs to restore in case you need to ever restore the  data.

Delete all the files on your new repository along with the backup configuration and reboot the ACS. Now initiate a full backup  and then reconfigure the incremental backups. This will resolve the issue.
